It's not about a certain someone but it's about someone, I'm certain.

The brief was one simply for fun- make up your own band name, album name and then design the cover however you like!

I made up the phrase "It's not about a certain someone but it's about someone. I'm certain". An ode to exes come and gone that music and art is usually in reference to. A bespoke typeface was also created for this.

"enjoy the journey"

I have 2 projects I'm working on at the moment, that, now looking at them in an editing stage, deal with the journey and process in which time inhabits their overall existence.

Initially, whilst I was creating the work there was a moment of desperately wanting to keep the objects that I could see in front of me. These things had manifested from drawings that I had then worked to create 3-Dimensionally inputting a lot of time and love into them. The idea of degradation was to then change them into a state of ugliness but also expiration. One of the technicians I worked with, John Deveruex, showed me this video above of David Mach's work.

These words from Mach stuck with me and made me look at the entire project as the real piece of work rather than the objects themselves. The start, middle and end is the true artwork.

"It's a real ferocious act of creation, there's nothing destructive"

A little move around..

SO.. My site will be down for a few days.. Whilst things change and I play swapsies with my servers and business like that!

It will all be very exciting and it will be nice to turn over a new leaf!

Right now, I have many music video projects on the go.. as mentioned one for Fables.. also another for good friend Max in Wildeflower, more to be revealed over the next coming month! but it's going to be a sweet smelling project with that nasty lil hint of darkness served on the side. tasty.

Also in early planning stages for two other projects but basically.. March you are going to be one hell of a month!!

Exciting times!!

"Can something be a little creepy and unnerving, and at the same time quite beautiful?"

I got featured on Ape on the Moon.. great bit of writing about my work and they asked me some questions about my work and processes. Go have a little gander.. I need to update this with lots of new work! Plus some workshops I have been running with my students!

Ballista Magazine

"In addition to technical versatility, Gareth also excels at drawing an eclectic mix of references into his work. Surreal, dark, and folksy motifs are often combined with a hand drawn aesthetic to create unique illustration, design, music promos and short films. If we had to choose one word to describe Gareth’s work it would be: crafted. You can see Gareth’s hand in every piece of work, and there’s strangely temporal quality to some pieces. This feeling combined with the striking nature of Gareth’s work command’s the viewer’s attention."

I fell in love with a girl from the black lagoon

A constant love of mine is Horror movie posters, the colours, illustrations, typography and layout. Beautiful. I found some hidden online here.
